The Key Step in Back Pain Relief: Discover the Source

Back pain begins with some form of indicator, a cause, but the source is not always obvious. Whether or not, you obtain medical attention, it is critical to be knowledgeable of the cause of your lower back pain. If you do seek therapeutic treatment, a doctor will ask you when, where and the manner in which your pain started. In fact, understanding these answers might be a deciding factor in the need to see a medical professionsal.

The following is a series of recommended questions intended to assist you in discovering how to determine the indicator, the incident, which triggered your lower back pain. It is critical to recognize that the pain may not occur until days, or even weeks, after the causal incident.

To begin, contemplate when you initially noticed signs of back pain and your activities in the preceding days. For example, did you fall or trip? Were you in an accident? Did you lift something heavy? Did you begin a new exercise or change your routine? Were you gardening, leaning over, or bending?

Other than injury or aggravation, could your back pain be caused by surgery, joint conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, or illness? Are there any hereditary back problems in your family?

Now, where did your back pain initially occur? Did it start in the upper or lower back? Did you experience any other pain, such as in the neck? Was the pain sharp, dull, or throbbing? Was it occasional or consistent? Did the pain shoot to other parts of the body, such as the shoulders or neck?

Did you experience other conditions? In addition to, or instead of back pain, did you experience fatigue or cramping? Was your back stiff or numb or tingling? Did you feel some popping? Did you experience any additional side effect such as nausea?

For how long did the pain persist? Was it occasional or consistent? Could you continue to walk or move about normally? Did the pain interrupt your daily activities or sleep? Did the pain get stronger, or better, if you stood up, or sat down? Did the discomforts progressively recede or change? Could you do something to provide back pain relief?

Putting these answers in writing will supply you with useful records for both short-term and long-term treatment. The more you understand the origin of your situation, the better you can learn how treat and perhaps avoid future pain.

If you were in a collision, or did obtain doctor support for your back pain, you should keep records of the doctor’s diagnosis and therapies for future reference as well. What remedy was recommended? Did the remedy help? Is the therapy something that you might do on your own to reduce or prevent chronic back pain?

There are other related questions that your physician will ask. Do you frequently engage in lifting weighty items? Do you stand long hours? Do you sit extended hours?

How are your work out habits? Do you exercise often? Do you engage in stretch and strength exercises, or any back pain exercises? Do you dress in appropriately supportive shoes during exercise? Do you engage in any further activities to reduce tension?

Remedies include a range from rest, which is common, to Chiropractic, to massage and physical therapy. Also, stretch exercises and back pain exercises can successfully reduce pain.

Knowing the indicators of back pain, is the initial step in getting the appropriate remedy for back pain relief.
