Seven Rules to Efficiently Organize Business

By: John LongView

If you intend to attain your goals and triumph in business then here are seven basic getting organized tips to follow. I have found that people who follow these rules are actually considerably more effective, less pressured and overall, probably generate better quality work. They all are critical. I have listed them in the order of how quick they are to do.

1. Make use of a book to write things down in.

Implementing this will be the the easiest tip. I've got a very easy and rapid and simple technique. Using this method I can recall things that took place in years past. I could very easily remember just who said exactly what in meetings and exactly who committed to doing exactly what and by when. I can revisit ideas that i had when I was on vacation or when i just woke up several years ago. I can view diagrams of ideas and relationships. I can see just how strategies began and developed and were either effective or failures. Can you do that?

How I do this is quite easy. I write things down in a book. I call this book my "Thinking Book".

2. Work in a Quiet space

You need to focus, specially if your work requires thinking. You've got to be able to focus. Call this what you will but I refer to it as getting down into the zone. If you're not able to concentrate 100% then this can't be accomplished.

3. Organize Business documents

Some people have a desk stacked high with documents that simply gets larger and larger. If you organize business papers it may well take you a few days to accomplish thoroughly nevertheless, you will truly feel better for doing it.

4. Organize Business email messages

Email is usually essential to just about any modern day business. We certainly can't function without it, I know. Without emails my business is nothing. There's something else I need to suggest concerning email given that I've got that off my chest.

E-mail is largely a waste of precious time.

Emails will control you if you don't control them first. Writing, responding to, searching for and organizing emails can take up loads of your time. If you are successful in business you will be inundated with emails. They will drown you if you don't tame them.

Organizing business email is relatively easy. It takes only a couple of hours and you only need to do it once and you will see the benefits for years.

5. To ensure that things get done, follow a process.

There are thousands of sites that explain systems to track and manage business tasks. Systems including GTD, Franklin Covey, Filofax would be the big ones. A lot of people try one for a while and then drop it. Nevertheless, find a thing that works for you and the advantages are immense.

On the time of writing I have got 156 jobs which I want to do. There is no way I could recall all of them simultaneously. Most people can primarily remember 7 things at any one moment. However I've got a strategy to follow all of them and I use it.

6. Focus on only one project at any given time.

This appears the easiest tip to organize business and it is one of the most essential. Believe me, though it is really the trickiest to do in practice. You will notice an enormous improvement in what you might achieve whenever you can do this..

Stay centered on what you're doing and don't be diverted from this right until it is accomplished. Do a single task at a time. Take action until the activity is completed. Do it well and then proceed to your next task.

7. Make Space Every Day to be able to do Nothing Other than Think

It is a tremendous benefit to take time out to think. This allows you to focus your thoughts upon the issues that are mattering to you at the time. It helps you to collect your ideas together. It is up to you whether or not you prefer to commit an hour meditating or perhaps a couple of minutes chilling out. Do this each and every day is my advice to you.

Personally, what I do is this: Anytime during the day I may frequently have a problem i will not have the solution for. If that happens I will write it straight down inside my thinking book and try not to think about it for the remainder of the day. Later on, perhaps in the course of my daily review, or later, I will devote some time merely chilling out whilst half thinking of the issue. I may go for a walk or sit down doodling on some paper. Or the chilling out may involve carrying out some chore around the home. Either way, for about 90% of these cases I have the solution within the following 10 minutes.

Making your business organized is relatively straightforward and just following these tips will make you a lot more successful and much less burdened in your work.
