Pet Pictures Not as Easy as One May Think

By: rebort kiona

It's a rare dog that does not, at the most inconvenient times, behave like a human being. Many, whether dog owner or not, see dogs as almost like humans because they feel a wide range of emotions too and deserve to be loved. The success of animal portraits is due to the recognition and study of dogs' moods, likes, and dislikes.

If a dog does not want to have his picture taken, he would usually start barking or refusing to prick up his ears. He could make work harder fort the portrait artist by deciding to be stubborn during the shoot. To secure an interesting, arrestive pose, the dog must be a little startled, his attention held by something which catches his sense of sound rather than his sense of smell. When a dog catches a scent, he ruins the picture by craning his neck, but when a dog is slightly startled, he pricks up his ears and stands upright.

Taking pictures of your dog is best done early in the morning before he feeds so that he is bright and alert. The hungry dog shows alertness and can easily do the desired pose. Also, he does not feel so hot at this time, and his mouth will not hang open as much. Dogs with mouths wide open and dogs that look tired don't make good subjects.

It is because of one detail that you can say that dog photographers' studios and the studios of radio broadcasting stations share something in common. You can find any kind of sound effect there for instant use. You can find mouse squeaks, bird calls, duck quacks, and a number of other assortments available.

When a breeder looks at the proofs of his dog's portraits, he expects to see perfection and all the good points of his dog. There is something different between a sketcher's work and a dog photographer's. When an artist draws, he tries to put in not what he knows is there, but what he can see. Photographers who work with dogs do the exact opposite and try to capture things about the dog that are not easily visible but should be there.

Make sure the length of a daschund's body is exaggerated. In the case of most breeds, their feet should be planted firmly on the ground and their bodies should be slight tilted for the shot. The German boxer is one breed that is quite difficult to understand. The presence of dogs in the same vicinity can cause this often friendly dog to act unfriendly.

Sometimes, amateur photographers forget that the easiest dog to photograph is a hungry dog. A photographer would get disappointed to see that after stuffing the dog, it would become a lazy and disinterested subject. If the dog is alert, he can assume the stance with no problem at all.

Sometimes, photographers don't want the breeders to be there when the dog is being posed. Pet owners can make quite a scene when they want their dog to feel comfortable, just like a nervous mother, and it is for this reason that photographers do this. A dog would be too familiar with what its master does to get his attention. The animal's much needed reaction would come out if exposed to various sound effects.
