Italian honeymoon in the Seychelles

By: True Paradise

Luna di Miele alle Seychelles

"Luna di miele alle Seychelles" is Italian for "honeymoon in the Seychelles". What amazed me at the time of my own honeymoon in the Seychelles was the high number of Italian married couples traveling to this exotic paradise. Reported by the National Statistics Bureau (NSB) of the Seychelles Italy is without question one of the primary markets for the Seychelles. I want to know why that is. I mean I can easily understand why someone wants to go to this exotic paradise in the Indian Ocean, but for what reason are the Seychelles so liked in a country which has hardly any historical connections with this particular archipelago?

It appears that younger Italians aren't only drawn to the sunny beach locations with warm white colored sand, flanked by waving palm trees, just like the majority of the globe. These people really spend the funds to travel to the islands too. Planes filled with married couples from Milano, Rome, Turin, and many other Italian towns travel to the Seychelles every day.

Nearly all of the travelers will land at the island of Mahe. With the whole island only seventeen miles long and just a few miles wide, Mahe is blessed with excellent beaches. And how picturesque can it get? A small mountain chain runs down the center of Mahe, and the land flattens out as it stretches to the shoreline. Down the north coast there are both wonderful beaches and great places to eat and resorts. On the flat ring of land all around Mahe is where the main road runs and it links the towns and communities. Beau Vallon sits northwest and was the main beach in the Seychelles for quite some time until tourists began taking a greater interest and it slowly became much easier to go to the close by smaller sized islands like Praslin and La Digue. And that is exactly where a large number of young couples continue to after arriving at Mahe..

Based on the data of the National Statistical Bureau in the Seychelles Italians make the second biggest group of travelers, following the French who, like the British have historical ties with the Seychelles.

The six main markets along with their corresponding number of tourists for 2009 are:

1. France (31341)

2. Italy (26114)

3. Germany (19736)

4. UK & Ireland (11350)

5. South Africa (8208)

6. Russia (8098)

Watching people

Considering that Italians take very good care of the way they dress and look, it truly is no punishment to look at all these young, just wedded, couples from all over Italy. Italians, everywhere they happen to be, are perfect for people watching. Combine that with what must be the most stunning honeymoon location and true paradise is born.
