How Effective is Eyelash Tint and is it Safe

All About Eyelash Tint

If you are researching the internet for eyelash tint you will find that much has been written about this subject. I have read a number of post and articles saying that it's dangerous and can even send you blind if the lash tint gets in your eyes. Scary stuff you have to agree and a very good reason to have this procedure done by a professional. Yes, there is a lot of hype on the internet but it stand to reason that if dye gets in your eyes it can be harmful so I decided I would not try this on my own and I suggest you do the same.

It is essential that you undergo a patch test at least 48 hours before the treatment, when I have had this done they placed a small amount of the eyelash tint behind my ear to see if I had any reaction within the 48 hours, which I didn't and was ok to go ahead. Obviously, if you have any reaction you cannot have this done but it's quite rare and you should be ok I am all for getting a lash tint it has some many benefits and saves you some to in the process. When you have your eyelashes tinted they immediately look darker and thicker, if you have blonde lashes like me it's a no brainer they really will look superb after the lash tint has been applied. The other major benefit is you can leave your mascara in your makeup bag because you won't need it for at least six weeks!

You have a number of choices when it comes to colour, there are a few available but the main eyelash tint colours are, brown, black, blue and blue/black, they are all very effective and I must admit over the years I have been getting this done I tried them all, my personal favourite is blue/back. Before we get into the detail I want to put your mind at rest, if eyelash tint is done properly and by a professional you are safe and have nothing to worry about, they will check first to ensure you are not allergic to the dye, if they don't do this then ask them why because this is something that must be done to avoid any problems.

So what exactly happens? First they will clean the skin around the eyes and add petroleum jelly around the eyelash to ensure none of the eyelash tint goes into your eyes. Most salons will put a pad under your eye to catch any eyelash tint when they are applying it. The lash tint is mixed and forms a kind of paste; this is then applied to the eyelash with a very small brush making sure the roots are coated. The lash tint is applied to both the top and the bottom eyelashes. When the lash tint is on you have to sit still and keep your eyes closed for about 15 minutes, this is a great time to just relax and get rid of the stresses of the day, that's how I used the time anyhow! After the 15 minutes has elapsed the eyelash tint is removed with a damp wool pad.

Slight word of warning here, if any of the eyelash tint does go in your eyes it will sting but they will wash your eyes quickly if this happens, so if you are feeling any stinging don't be a hero tell them or they may not know the lash tint has gone into your eyes. When the process is complete you will notice a difference, your eyelashes will look longer and darker which is what you want, this look will usually last about 6 weeks so no need for any mascara but you can put some on if you want.
