Generating Leads with At-Home Sales Parties

Generating Leads with At-Home Sales Parties
Generating leads using at-home sales parties is a quick way to fill up a customer list. By being able to demonstrate your products in person you are able to give a more personal touch to your sales pitch than you can online or through your website. But there are some common pitfalls with home parties that can turn a hopeful gathering into a disappointment for you and your hostess. These pitfalls can be avoided with a little effort and creative pre-party advertising; turning your gathering into the order-taking, list building event you need.

Parties
Having at-home sales parties is nothing new. Many of the older generation fondly remember Tupperware parties and Mary Kay demonstrations in their homes. The parties helped to generate an income for women and men in their own communities from their own home. They continue to do so today. No longer limited to just a few companies, today there are hundreds of companies offering products available-for-sale from someone's home. The benefit to the person selling is not just the increase in orders they receive, they may also get a cut of the profit from any other sales people they recruit into the business.

Sales
Making sales is the critical component of being in business; meaning sales people are paid based on how much they sell. By holding a demonstration party you are able to assemble multiple prospects in one room at one time. Typically someone contacts you through your website or email requesting to host a party. This is where being listed on a directory board and being registered on the social networking sites can help to drive traffic your way; increasing the number of hostess requests you receive. The hostess invites her friends and family and is rewarded with free gifts in exchange for the orders received at the end of the party. While they host the party, you are responsible for bringing samples and demonstration products for the guests to enjoy.

Avoiding the Common Pitfall
The most common pitfall is that invitees feel obligated to go to the parties and even more obligated to make a purchase once there. Center the party on a fun theme, and add a note about no purchase being necessary on the invitation. Although getting orders is your main goal; your secondary goal should be to introduce your products to these new prospects and get your contact information out there so they can contact you with orders in the future.

Pre-party advertising should market the parties as a different way to shop. Entrepreneurs are hosting in-home sales parties for everything from jewelry to candles to intimate apparel; making concierge shopping not only possible but practical. With no need to run store to store your customers save time and gas by shopping through at-home parties.

Now is the Time
With the warmer summer weather, now is a natural time of season to throw parties. For a fun twist make your next party a home sales party. Whether you are the person selling the products or the person hosting it, a summertime sales party can be a fun gathering between family and friends while supporting someone's business.
