Dust Suppression Methods for Healthy Environment

Spray technology is commonly used for dust suppression as it is the most cost efficient and effective technology to remove dust. Water carts are commonly used techniques to remove dust from the roads but they have some disadvantage and the main disadvantage is that it is quite expensive. Still there are some easy ways to suppress the dust from roads and automated sprinkler is the answer for most efficient and cost effective way to eradicate dust from roads. By increasing moisture level via pre watering reduces the dust originated by blasting and mining. High volume sprinklers can be used for this purpose. Mining or blasting generates airborne dust and to cope up this dust, Fog Cannons are used to suppress all types of air borne dust materials. Fog cannon create a fine blanket of mist in that particular area and thus it suppresses all types of air borne dust. Fog cannons are especially designed to handle large amount of dust particles and it can do better job in suppressing the dust.

When it comes to stockpile dust suppression, it is considered for stabilizing the surface and it is done by regular watering. High angle sprinklers and long throw water cannons are usually used for this purpose. Dumping can also generate huge amount of air which in result creates airborne dust. Nozzles are used for spraying water and it can reduce the dust effectively. There are some areas where nozzles do not work well, so for those areas, misting solution is required to suppress the dust effectively.

Network of sprinklers are used for the open areas and to perform this task in the most effective manner, it is better to use automated sprinkler along with valves and control system. There are different types of dust suppression chemicals which are also available and used to suppress the dust effectively. Polymer crust is used for low or no traffic areas and interestingly, it can provide dust control for around 10 to 20 months. The crust allows the plants to grow on the surface and it is water permeable. Biodegradable vegetable oil can be used for the high traffic areas to suppress the dust and this technique can control the dust for about 4 months.

Apart from all, one can also opt for the underground dust control methods and for this high volume sprinklers are commonly used. For smaller areas, the roof mounted sprinklers can be chosen while for wall mounted nozzle sprays can be used. So, one can follow the above effective methods to control dust and these methods can rally provide good results in minimizing the dust from the surface.
