Choosing the Right Bedding

We spend on average a third of our lives in our beds asleep, but add to that the time that we spend in our bedrooms reading, watching television, having a lazy Sunday morning and so on, and it soon becomes clear we spend the majority of our time within our bedrooms. That’s why it is so crucial that your bedroom is somewhere you can relax, unwind and feel comfortable in. So, here are some handy tips on what to look for when buying your new bedding:

Décor – bedding within your room is one of the easiest and simplest of ways to create a different feel to your bedroom. Choosing bedding that matches in with your colour scheme is a must; but equally bedding that is inviting and comfortable is necessary. After all, you want to look forward to jumping into your bed of an evening. For example, white bedding and a soft spongy duvet could look incredibly inviting…even during the day!

Comfort – whilst that bedding may look absolutely fantastic, it might not be all that comfortable, which is a no no within the bedroom. If you have a tastefully artistic pillow covered in embroidery and décor, even though it looks sensational, it may not be the most comfortable of head rests; so be sure to save the decorative pillows as additions rather than your actual pillow. If you do want to add a little extravagance into your bedding, silks and satins are a fantastic way to do this and they feel great on the skin and can add to the romantic feel of the bedroom.

Ease – don’t forget you’re going to have to wash this bedding regularly, so make sure you’ve read up on how easy it is to wash these. Cotton sheets are the most popular types of bedding as they are quick and easy to clean.
