First up you need to decide what type of material you want. Fancy traditional wooden sheds? No problem, but remember there are alternatives such as metal and PVC. Wooden ones have that lovely traditional look and at home in pretty much any garden, but don't underestimate the maintenance involved. You need to treat them to stop them rotting or getting damaged by the elements.

The downside is they lack character, but if you're after the most cost effective and practical option, they are a good bet. For similar reasons you might to consider plastic. They have the added bonus of being resistant to insect damage.

So what exactly are you going to use it for? Potting or just storage. If it's for potting seedlings, then a dedicated potting shed is the best option for you. They are smaller and perfectly designed for this purpose with plenty of shelving.

You don't want to fill it up to the point where you don't have enough room to work. Remember you need enough space to move tools in and out. If it's raining outside, having a bench to work from inside is a great option.
